In April of 2017, East Coast-based Superior Controls merged with West Coast-based Banks Integration Group, creating one of the largest control system integrators in the US, and allowing the company to better serve customers throughout the country. In our continuing blog series introducing our corporate leadership, we are spotlighting the West Coast management team, who we have asked to share details of their tenure with the company, information about their background, and personal fun facts.
Greg Banks, Founder and President of Banks Integration Group
Greg founded Banks Integration Group in September 1994. He hired his first employee six months later, and he is still with the company today! Greg says, “We are now over forty in California and still growing.”
Greg graduated as an electrical engineer from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1980. His first job out of college was for a support contractor for the army at Fort Hunter Liggett in California. The fort was primarily used as a training facility, where activities such as field maneuvers and live fire exercises were performed. “I built microprocessor-based systems that simulated the ammunition for the weapons, be it for M16s or exercises related to tanks verses helicopters,” said Greg. “This was laser tag before it was commercialized.”
When asked to share some personal tidbits, Greg says, “I have been married for nearly 37 years and have four grown kids. Three are out of college and one is in graduate school. It is really fun to socialize with them as adults.”
“Personally, I love golf and try to play every week. I have only been taking it seriously for the past 5 years and so I am constantly fine-tuning my game. It is a great way to take your mind off of work.”
Gary Powell, Vice President of Banks Integration Group
Gary has been with Banks Integration for nearly 20 years, and is currently the company’s vice president. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Gary has a degree in mechanical engineering and has achieved his professional engineer’s license in the state of California. Gary began his career at Pacific Gas and Electric, where he was introduced to control systems.
Gary shares this fun fact: “I have participated in a few SF Giants Fantasy Camps and have played baseball there against Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam lead vocalist), John Cusack (actor) and Benjamin Bratt (actor) – I claim to be the only guy on the planet that has struck out those 3 individuals.”
Stan Reyna, Director of Operations
Originally from France, Stan Reyna studied electrical engineering at the National Engineering School of ENSEM in Nancy, France. Stan’s first job in the U.S. was with Certainteed as an assistant financial analyst, where he learned about finance in a manufacturing setting. Stan later returned to France and spent several years as an automation technical manager at a shipbuilding plant, working on some of the most impressive cruise ships of the day. A Banks Integration employee now for 13 years and counting, Stan is the company’s Director of Operations in the Vacaville, California office.
Fun facts about Stan: Stan was born in France, and spent time during his youth assisting his grandparents with their vineyard and blacksmith shop. He is an enthusiastic Minnesota Vikings fan.
Stan and his family enjoy road trips through the US and Canada, skiing in the nearby Lake Tahoe resorts and going on cruises. Stan spends his free time playing tennis and golf, and working on his old BMW.

In Scotland, you can’t have a BBQ without a backup plan.”
John and his wife have three adult children who grew up with California as their home. The family enjoys spending summers at a remote cabin on the Canadian border in Maine. The couple has two sons, Alasdair, age 24 and Duncan age 27, and a daughter, Tia, age 23.
