The sun finally made an appearance as a record-breaking 16 Superior Controls employees and President Rick Pierro ran in the 2019 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge in Albany, NY with over 8000 runners. This year marks the 21st consecutive summer that Superior Controls teams have competed together in 5K road races.
Superior Controls runners formed four teams that competed against more than 500 teams, with the men’s “A” team placing 20th overall. The team was led by Greg Tompkins (23:12), who was Superior’s fastest employee for the 2nd year in a row, while also shaving more than three minutes off his time from last year! Joseph Iuliucci (23:47), Brendan Jeffers (24:07), and Jonas Ciemny (24:58) rounded out the top-placing team. Runners were from the company’s Albany, NY and Seabrook, NH offices.
As in years past, employees who beat President Rick Pierro’s time won a cash bonus at the post-race team celebration. Matching 2018’s results, 14 employees managed to “beat the boss” to go home with an extra $100 courtesy of Rick.
Superior Controls’ Senior Project Engineer Andy Corsini summed up the event, “Overall, we continue to get more and more participation each year. It is a fantastic display of both the teamwork and sense of competition which drives so many of us.”
