Superior Controls Project Manager Tag McCormick and Senior Project Engineer Matt Martin will be presenting two sessions at the 2019 Rockwell Automation Process Solutions User Group (PSUG) event in Chicago, IL November 18-19, 2019.
Tag and Matt will co-present Recipe Management for Single Units on November 18, 2019 at 3:15 pm and again on November 19, 2019 at 10:30 am. The presentation will go into greater depth on a project that Tag described in his recent article on recipe management.
There are many solutions for large-scale batch management which are intended for use by an entire facility, but what should control engineers use when recipe management is only needed on a small scale, such as for a single unit? Softing, a Rockwell Automation Encompass Product Partner®, has solved this common problem with the 56eATM-TMGR module for data exchange between ControlLogix processors and a Microsoft SQL database.
The presentation will cover:
- Technical challenge – what problem we were trying to solve
- Solution selection criteria – why we chose that piece of hardware and design approach
- Technical details of the design and implementation, best practices recommendations and lessons learned
- Benefits we realized
- Next steps – when/why would we use this approach again
Tag McCormick is a project manager at Superior Controls with more than 15 years of experience in the process automation, water/wastewater treatment, and power generation industries. Tag was the project manager for the single unit system discussed in this presentation.
Matt Martin is a senior project engineer at Superior Controls and has six years of experience in process automation. Matt completed the majority of the technical design, development, and testing of the PLC to SQL database module and the architecture of the recipe on the single unit system discussed in this presentation.
