Does Superior Controls have engineers who specialize in doing parts of each project, and if so, will I have to coordinate with multiple people?
While Superior Controls does have specialists who will be involved in different aspects of a project, a single project manager will be assigned to every project. This project manager is responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle and is the customer’s single-point of contact and accountability. The project manager is assigned to the project from the start and meets with the customer during the project kick-off meeting and subsequent project meetings. Other engineers may work on the project, but the project manager remains on the project until its completion, including start-up support.
What is the CSIA Certified Members Program?
The CSIA first introduced their Best Practices and Benchmarks Process in 1997 and later initiated a Certified Member Program in 2001, which “provides manufacturers a tool in evaluating and selecting control and information system integrators”. The Certified Member Program also benefits the systems integrator because it establishes a “framework to evaluate and continuously improve their own businesses.”
To attain Certified Member status with CSIA, a company must undergo a rigorous audit (conducted by a third-party consulting firm) and meet or exceed CSIA’s Best Practices and Benchmarks, specifically performance standards in ten critical business areas:
- General Management
- Human Resources Management
- Marketing, Business Development, and Sales Management
- Financial Management
- Project Management
- Systems Development Lifecycle
- Supporting Activities
- Quality Assurance Management
- Business Development
- Technical Management
Companies who have passed the audit are likely to be better capable of managing projects. In order to maintain their certification status, certified members must pass an audit every three years.
What is the significance of Superior Controls’ Level 1 Certification status with the CSIA?
Superior Controls has earned the rank of Level 1 CSIA Registered Member, having met or surpassed the requirements of the most rigorous criteria. Recently, Superior Controls became the first ever systems integrator in the world to be certified for a sixth time. Superior Controls continues to be among the select group of companies which have passed the audit and achieved certification.
There are three levels of registration, Level 1 being the most difficult to attain. Each level has modified or different criteria to meet.
